In October and November of 1993, the California firestorms roared through the countryside, destroying hundreds of homes. The fires were responsible for several deaths, destruction of hundreds of homes and thousands of acres of chaparral and trees resulting in almost $500 million in property losses. If the homes in the path of the firestorms had been constructed with the noncombustible materials now being offered by ProFoam, most of the homes would still be standing, and all of the walls would still be standing. Above all else, the ability to have a fire-resistant home should remain the number one concern of anyone building a home or commercial building. Fire still remains the number one destroyer of structures. One home, in a group of homes, was built with the ProPanel-type walls; the roof, however, was constructed with wood framing and composition shingles. The garage of this home caught fire and burned. The owner installed a new roof, knocked a hole in each wall, blew in new insulation, plastered over the holes, repainted the walls and had his refurbished home ready for occupancy within 10 days after beginning construction.
